Weekends at Huntington (1st weekend)

As the summer progressed, I decided that I wanted to spend a bunch of time 200 miles away at Huntington Lake on my boat. On Saturday the 16th of July, LGJeff and I, along with Paul went up to Huntington with the boat. after the four and a half hour drive with the boat up to 7000’ in the sierras, I was very frustrated to find how many people were there. It seemed like the place had been ‘discovered’ but I’ve since learned that there was just a massive regatta that weekend. The Fresno County Sheriffs were jack asses. We had the big 23’ boat, and stopped near the launch ramp to rig it and then launch it, and they came up and said “you cant rig here, it says no parking.” Well, there was NOWHERE else to rig the boat or park the trailer. After much frustration I just launched the boat with the mast down. Jeff watched the boat at the dock while Peter and I dealt with the car and the trailer. We ended up having to disconnect the trailer, leave it at one part of the parking lot, and park the car in another space. Not only could I not rig the boat on the trailer, the water was too choppy to rig it at the launch ramp. So we had to motor the boat over to Rancharia Marina with the mast down, and there the water was calm enough to raise the mast. Paul filmed while Jeff and I raised the mast. I think this is the only video i have of the mast being raised. I also got a lot of other good videos while we were there, I borrowed Amanda’s video camera and used it for a few weekends at the lake. We had a good weekend sailing and hanging out, playing liars dice. it costs too much to take the expedition there though with the boat ($125 round trip) for gas. on the way back we brought home the trailer, to be repaired. we made it almost all the way home, to about 85 and 101, and paul said that the trailer was dragging something. I pulled over, and the carpeted wooden runners that actually touch the boat, had vibrated loose. I ripped them off, threw them in the car and we were on our way.

Birthday Weekend

Thursday morning I woke up sick and called in to work accordingly. After about an hour and a half my medicine started to really kick in and I was able to do some work from home. I ended up driving out to a client as well for like 4 hours to install a much delayed T1 line. Friday morning my alarm didn’t wake me up, and I was much sicker than the day before. I stayed in bed all day, slept and watched like 5 movies, I don’t even remember now what they were though. Friday evening I started to feel a little better, and I took Jennifer out at 12 midnight for her birthday downtown Los Gatos. We went to C.B. Hannigans, which was pretty dead, then met up with her 2 other friends Brian and Austin and went to Mountain Charlie’s. I didn’t get to drink because I was sick, and was planning on taking Jennifer home when we were done. Mountain Charlie’s was kinda cool, it was smaller than I expected, and they had an $8 cover charge, but there were tons of people and most of them were dancing. After I dropped Jennifer off at home, I went and picked up LGJeff from a party in Los Gatos, and we just drove around for a little bit, stopped by Safeway since I was extremely hungry, and I made it home and to bed around 3am.

Saturday morning I was still sick, but nothing like Friday morning. After getting home late i slept in until about 12:30 and really didn’t do anything all day until Jess showed up later in the afternoon. We went shopping at BestBuy to get my mom’s mothers day present. Then we went out to eat at chili’s, I had a large margarita and too much food. After dinner we went to the mall to get sunglasses. I found a pair that I like and need but decided to wait for the next paycheck to buy it. $145 I don’t need to spend right now. We rushed from the mall back to my house to get ready to go out. We were meeting up with Jennifer and some of her friends to celebrate her 21st birthday. Before we left the house, Jess and I split a diet coke with 3 shots of vodka each to get warmed up and save a little money from the bars. My brother dropped us off downtown San Jose at a bar called the Britannia Arms Pub where we met up with Jennifer and her friends. We sat there for a while and rung up about $120 on the tab between the nine of us before deciding to go to the next bar. We found ourselves a few blocks down Santa Clara street at a place called ‘Toons’. They had a sign on the street advertising $1 drinks, so it was a winner. We played several games of team pool and had lots of drinks, and started to dance a bit. Personally, by this point I had already consumed 8 shots of vodka (mixed in various things) and two redbull vodka’s. The price was right and the drinks were good. After a while at that bar we wandered around looking for San Jose bar and grill but there were tons of people outside and we didn’t want to wait. We ended up asking some guy where we should go, and he took us around the block to this other bar that was quite nice. Actually I don’t know about the bar that much, it was long and skinny, and I was very drunk by the time we got there. That bar was all about dancing. I danced the whole time I was there except for the last 2o mins or so, when I was just too drunk to stand up by myself. I had 3 corona’s there and that was a bad call on my part. I was gone by the time the evening was over. I called my dad to come pick me up, problem was, there were so many cops downtown, that he couldn’t get to where I was to pick me up. I ended up walking completely shit-faced from 2nd and Santa Clara St. downtown San Jose to the arena. Don’t know how I made it that far, but I did.

Sunday wasn’t such a good day. My stomach hurt all day and I didn’t want to eat. I drank about 3.5 liters of water and finally felt more hydrated around 9pm. Jess and I hung out at Starbucks for several hours and then went home to sleep. I had work on Monday and she has two job interviews.

what a day

So today I went on a bike ride with my brother for the first time, it was fun, but he slowed me down a lot, and all my new bike wants to do is go downhill really fast. Before we left I was cleaning up the chain on my old bike for my brother, and he was trying out my new bike, and just about kills himself and breaks my new bike. Luckily neither happened, but he was riding about 5mph just trying it out, decides to pull the front break, and flips over the handlebars. He was lucky because he wasn’t wearing a helmet, and he didn’t land on his head. He got a few scratches on his elbow, but was alright. The bike was OK too, it needed a little tune up as the gear shifters got hit out of wack a little bit, but that was an easy fix. Tomorrow I think I’ll ride in Santa Cruz, at wilder ranch, since I may have to go work on some stuff at the beach house :(. I wish I had someone to ride with that was at my skill level. Riding with a beginner kinda sucks because i don’t really get a workout, but hell, everyone has to start somewhere.

My comcrap (comcast) is still broken at home. It usually goes out at night and I get about 50% packet loss for several hours, then randomly it works again. Also while the internet is broken, i also cant get any HD or high number digital channels either. Comcast needs to fix their shit on my street and give me free service. I think they have already credited my account more than $80 for the month, its free until they fix their shit and I stop calling. It being broken is also costing them a lot, since I’ve had a service call every other day for the past 2 weeks or so. I’m also pissed that my dsl is not going to work, they came back after 4 weeks of figuring shit out and said that my line is 17,000+ feet away from the CO, which i actually already knew, but they convinced me otherwise when I ordered it. We’ll see how long it takes for them to ask for the modem back.

I need to move out of the house now so i can finally have good internet again. I’m at Starbucks right now because my crap is broken at home and its pissing me off. Hopefully when I get kicked out of here at 12 I can go hang out with Jenn for a while.
