MythTV

Today Eger and I spent most of the evening playing with MythTV… yet again. After failing to meet some dependencies and trying a few diffrent kernels we finally got it to work… MythTV Kicks major ass. Thats just about all ive got to say about that. Now i wish i had my own TV. Right now its hooked up to my parents 50″ samsung DLP widescreen via DVI and it looks beautiful. Its even got really good aspect ratio detection so almost everything looks good. Its currently not setup as a tv recorder, but rather a recording viewer. Current tv shows get automatically downloaded from an RSS feed and placed into the correct folder, and then appear on the menu as watchable, in commercial free, hdtv (mpeg4). MythTV also has some nice other features that you wont really find on a TiVo or XP Media Center, which include a very nice Weather interface with frequent updates and weather channel radar loops.
